Would you like to help select the best basic research projects in the Czech Republic? The terms of office of approximately half of the more than 400 members of GACR Evaluation Panels are coming to an end. This creates an opportunity for researchers to join the evaluation of projects across all 39 panels from April 2027 and contribute to the development of Czech science. Nominations may be submitted until 17 December.
“At GACR, projects are evaluated exclusively by researchers with a high level of subject-matter expertise. We believe this is the best way to select the highest-quality scientific projects for funding,” says Milan Jirsa, President of the Czech Science Foundation. “We greatly appreciate everyone who contributes to the evaluations and is willing to devote their time and expertise to the benefit of the scientific community of which they are themselves a part.”
GACR has 39 Evaluation Panels grouped into 5 Discipline Committees. Over 400 experts in the respective fields serve on these panels, evaluating Project Proposals for basic research each year under the Standard Projects and International Projects calls, POSTDOC INDIVIDUAL FELLOWSHIP, and Restart Grants.
Independent review of Project Proposals by expert scientific panels and comparison of the proposals with one another is good practice among leading European and non-European funding agencies, including the European Research Council (ERC). Mutual trust in the quality of this evaluation is also the basis for international cooperation through the Lead Agency scheme, whereby joint Project Proposals are evaluated by only one of the partner agencies and the other agencies adopt its evaluation results. In this way, GACR cooperates with nine partner agencies around the world.
Researchers may be nominated to GACR panels either by their institution or by themselves by completing the online form below.
