Information on Data Processing for the Survey „Societal and Economic Impacts of Basic Research Funded by the Czech Science Foundation (GACR)”
Data to be processed
To reduce the administrative burden, certain information will be pre-populated from the GACR project database. This includes, in particular:
- name and surname of the principal investigator,
- gender,
- institution / workplace,
- project number,
- project title,
- discipline panel.
In the questionnaire, you will also be asked to provide information on the impacts of the project, the areas in which those impacts have been observed, the pathway from the project result to its impact, the time elapsed before the impact materialised, interconnections with other projects and, where applicable, your ORCID and the year in which you were awarded your PhD or equivalent qualification.
Voluntary participation
Participation in this Survey is voluntary. You may discontinue completing the questionnaire at any time. Failure to complete the questionnaire will have no effect on your current or future relationship with GACR, the evaluation of your projects, or your ability to apply for GACR funding.
By submitting the completed questionnaire, you confirm that you have read and understood the information regarding the purpose of the Survey and the processing of data and that you agree to the use of the information provided for the analytical and evaluation purposes described above.
Benefits of the Survey
The Survey will enable GACR to better describe and evaluate the broader societal, economic, academic and other impacts of basic research. The results may contribute to better communication of the benefits of basic research to both the scientific community and the general public, as well as to the further development of GACR’s analytical and evaluation activities.
Risks of the Survey
The risks associated with participation in the Survey do not exceed those associated with routine administrative or office activities. The main potential risk relates to the processing of personal data and project-related information. This risk will be minimised by restricting access to the data to authorised GACR staff only, ensuring data security and using the results primarily in aggregated form.
Data Protection and Use
The data collected will be used exclusively for GACR’s analytical, evaluation, strategic and communication purposes. Access to individual responses will be restricted to authorised GACR staff and, where applicable, to persons processing the data on behalf of GACR and in accordance with conditions ensuring the protection of personal data.
The Survey results will generally be presented in aggregated form so that individual respondents cannot be identified. Should specific text responses or examples of impacts be used in the future in a manner that could lead to the identification of an individual, project or institution, they will be modified, anonymised or separate consent will be requested, where relevant.
Personal data will not be used for purposes other than those related to this Survey and GACR’s analytical activities.
The data controller for the personal data processed in connection with this Survey is the Czech Science Foundation (GACR), with its registered office at Evropská 2589/33b, 160 00 Prague 6, Czech Republic.
